I am making it official. Today is day 1 of my journey to better health. I’ve tried this before, but I kept it to myself. By making my decision public, I believe that I will be held accountable for my actions. This is not a diet. I am making lifestyle changes. I do have a weight loss goal but it’s so much more than that. I will exercise daily, eat better, and pay more attention to physical, mental, and emotional health in general. I will post regular updates throughout my journey. It will be interesting to see how I’m doing in 60 days. Stay tuned!…

It’s my birthday!!! That’s right. Today, I am 41 years young. So how am I celebrating my special day? With family, of course. Hubby is working today, so the kiddos and I are shopping and eating everything in sight. We just had fro-yo from our favorite spot. Now, we’re waiting on hubby so we can visit the newest Japanese Hibachi restaurant in town. Other than that, I’m just relaxing and thanking God for allowing me to live to see another birthday. I must say, 41 feels great!

It’s my 1-year anniversary! It was exactly a year ago that I decided to create this blog. Sadly, I haven’t posted anything since I created it. Bein a polymath can make life seem overwhelming at times. I tend to get so busy with so many things that I get lost in all of the excitement. I’ve had a busy year. As exciting as it was, I’d rather focus on upcoming events instead of recapping my year. I plan to be very active on this blog from now on, so prepare to be entertained. Here goes…

Hello world!

My name is Tamika, and I am a polymath!  I know, crazy introduction, right?  It sounds like I just introduced myself at a recovery meeting.  I just figured that the best way to introduce myself would be to start with the term that describes me best.  If you are not familiar with the term, a polymath is a person of many interests.  Please do not confuse it with being indecisive.  It’s not that I can’t choose between interests.  It’s more about not wanting or needing to choose.  I enjoy so many things that I am almost never bored.

I am a mother of three.  I have one child in elementary school, one in high school, and one in college.  I have been married for 20 years.  We are a military family.  My husband is in the Army.  I am employed as a high school teacher.  Over the years, I have taught several subjects, but I prefer high school math.  Occasionally, I work as an adjunct professor at a college.  Honestly, teaching is a huge part of my life.  In addition to teaching professionally, I sometimes offer couponing classes to community groups and churches.

I have A LOT of hobbies.  To name a few, I love cooking, singing, traveling, crocheting, and couponing.  I plan to use this blog to share stories and advice that pertains to my many interests.  Come along with me and enjoy the ride.

Happy blogging!
